Makenna While

More than just a graphic designer!

I’m Makenna While and I am a traditional artist and Graphic Designer. I have great interests in illustration, typography, and photography. I am a graphic designer that loves typography, photography, and digital painting! I began focusing on charcoal, watercolor, and acrylic painting mediums. I have a strong fine artist foundation in my graphic work. I can apply my skills to both colorful maximalist styles and monochromatic modern styles. I have been passionate about art for my entire life which is what inspired me to study graphic design. I have proficient experience in the adobe suite apps such as Illustrator, inDesign, Photoshop, and more. I am experienced in photography and have experience with Lightroom. I can digital paint across a wide variety of different apps. I enjoy the challenge of creating something I have never made before and I am open for freelance work!

Currently a graphic design student, expecting to graduate May 2025! I am grateful to have had three of my works featured at a Juried Art Exhibition at my art school. I had my digital painting “A Boy Named Patrick Swayze” featured in the spring 2023 exhibition. In spring 2024, I had an acrylic painting titled “Staying Warm” and a traditional piece titled “Cats are the Universe” featured. Please feel free to check these out in my portfolio! I am a graphic designer with a traditional artist background. I love experimenting with different styles from minimalist to maximalist. I am most passionate about illustrating, typography, and various paint mediums. As a student, I am determined to succeed. I love to learn new things. I took three years of German in highschool. In my freetime, I like to create art, study Japanese or German, and read.

I have accomplished a lot in my artistic skills. I can use acrylic paint, charcoal, water colors, and a variety of other mediums. In the scholastic art award, my painting “Siblings On The Sea” won a silver key. I also had a portfolio, along with several other works that won honorable mentions this year. All of those works were created in my AP art class. I have also won honorable mentions in art in my past high school years. I was in an art club for all four years of high school. My junior and senior year I was the president. I also participated in German club for three years. I did junior varsity cheerleading for basketball and football season for my freshman and sophomore year. I did track in my freshman year. I participated in marching band and concert band in all four years of highschool. In my senior year I was a part of National Honors Society and Delta Epsilon Phi (German National Honors Society).

As a student, I am determined to succeed. I love to learn new things.I took three years of German in highschool. In my freetime, I like to create art, study Japanese or German, and read. I chose to major in graphic design because I already know plenty of information about creating studio art. I know that technology is the future, so graphic design is my next step to become a successful artist and graphic designer. I can create magazines, brochures, and other forms of media. I have a wide range of artistic skills from digital painting to the typographic style. I think that its good to keep a wide range of art skills at hand and to always think outside the box. I love logo design and using symbolism in art work. Branding is another thing I am passionate for. One thing that inspired me to choose graphic design is playing games like Webkinz and Club Penguin growing up, I was always fascinated about creating a fun space!
