This acrylic painting was a school assignment in my Foundation Form class (spring 2022.) The purpose was to reinvestigate an old project you did to make something new with it. For my reinvestigation project, I revisited a hand line drawing from foundation drawing. I wanted to create a concept to go along with my piece. I made the hands into plants coming out of a potted plant. I added a watering can with an eyeball to further my concept. I made sure to add colorful detail throughout the piece. The background is wavy and I wanted to try to show energy coming off of the two focal points. I used these elements in my painting because of my concept. The concept is plants blooming and changing shape like flowers. I am inspired by the idea of the changes of life that we go through. The watering can has an eyeball with tears coming out of it onto a wilted hand. This signifies the pain that causes growth and change in life. The left hand is wilted, the hand to the right is slowly blooming, and the furthest hand to the right is reaching out for water. With this piece I gave a lot of thought into my color choice. I made the hands a light pink to stand out against the emerald green background. The watering can is a lilac shade that is similar to the hands’ color. I used purple and blue for shading both the hands and watering can. Overall, I am very proud of my piece. I think I reinvestigated the project wisely and created a wonderful piece with a meaningful concept.
